The file manager is an interface used to manage the different files that are uploaded to the website. Additional software is not required - this interface supports all features needed to manage the files on the site and does so directly from the browser and site manager. The system supports standard file types and formats recognized by server standards – i.e. all types of image files, text files, JS, CSS, HTML, zipped files, MS Office files, video and audio files, charts and more.
File Display
The file manager window offers many different options for viewing files that have been uploaded to the site. The folder tree is displayed on the right. Clicking on a folder displays all of the files stored in it and replaces the closed folder icon with an open folder one. A specific folder can be searched using the search field located below the folder tree. The two buttons near the search field allow the user to open or close all of the folders.
The list of files appears on the left side of the window. If there are many files in the list, a button will appear which enables the user to browse through the pages and select the number of items displayed on each page.
Two arrows appear alongside each column which can be used to sort the list by the field in the column. For example, clicking on the arrow pointing down in the "Size" column sorts the list of files according to their size, in descending order.
Clicking the Edit button opens editing options for the file. Image files dimensions can be edited and advanced editing options are presented.
To delete a file, mark the checkbox that appears to the left of the file's information and click on "Delete". Deleted files cannot be retrieved.
Adding Files
Click on "Add Files" to add a file to the website. The window that appears offers two uploading options: "Upload using Flash" and "Simple Upload". Uploading a file using Flash allows the user to select multiple files from the computer, preview them and view information about the files before they are uploaded. This option even sorts the files in alphabetical order. This option requires that an updated Flash Player be installed on the website owner's computer. To upload files using Flash, click on the "Browse" button, select the files from the computer's disk and click "Upload". The files will be uploaded and automatically added to the file manager. Simple upload supports five file uploads at a time. The user can select each file separately and click on "Apply" to begin uploading.
Adding a Folder
A new folder can be added to the file manager by selecting the folder to which the new folder will be added and clicking on "New Folder". When a window opens, enter the new folder name and click on "Apply". The folder will be created instantly and files can be uploaded to it.
